Ah... The story behind this is crazy.

Well, sort of.

posted this pic ([link]) a few days ago concerning a sort of August Rush ([link]) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory crossover, with Charlie being cast out of the factory.

Welllllllll I was inspired to begin writing this fic and actually got six pages into it, but before I got there, I wrote this one scene with Charlie sitting on the curb, pondering his situation and... Strangely enough, apparently had the same idea, as she sketched this earlier: [link]

And so, since we had just shared a brainwave or too, I really fell in love with the piece. I've had a craving to colour one of 's pics for a long time, but the last time I tried I screwed up badly and got discouraged. Knowing how to go about it this time made it go much faster though.

This took FOREVER though (and it better show *twitch*)! I spent five hours just reinking the thing. Collectively, I probably spent 22 hours or so on it. e.e Which sounds really horribly rediculous, but I didn't really notice the time go by. This was the description that shocked Lulu's brain into being reminded of the pic:

He looked up at the setting sun, sitting down on the curb mindlessly. He could still see the smoke coming from the factory in the distance. He turned away and stared off into the sunset, sighing deeply, begging for answers of some sort. He wanted to ask if he even deserved any answers, knowing how he had brought this upon himself. He had been the one to start it all.

I can't believe I still love him…

Sooooo yes. It got changed around slightly because my brain wanted it to. D: When I inked it, I felt very bothered by the incredibly BLANK space in front of the factory and knew I couldn't get away with it (seeing as Lulu had already started a BG) especially since the factory was meant to be in the far distance. So I went a little crazy, added some irony. I'm just so happy that it ended up working out, because I didn't sketch the BG before I went straight to inking it. <<

As for the Wonka truck, if I even MENTION a Wonka truck in a drawing... Please shoot me. The damn thing took like, two-three hours to colour. It was positively tedious. Those three hours I felt! I know it's still far from perfect as goes the Wonka logo but I was so infuriated with it by the time I noticed all the discrepancies that I was like, "....I dun care. *falls over and moves on to the next layer*" [So please dun tell me it's inaccurate, trust me, I know. x.x] I'm pleased with how it turned out though. Perhaps Charlie should take the truck's advice [please notice the right blinker is blinking, heading back to the factory] and head home, but I'm doubtful.

Anc Charlie's face, the dang little bugger, did not want to cooperate with me at all. D: I was looking forward to colouring him so much, and yet the first part I coloured of him [his face] gave me such a hard time. I wanted him to have pale skin due to the coldness [please note snow in trailer, even though it's lacking here] but both of the first two times I coloured him he ended up looking ashen and dead, an effect I did not want. So I ditched the paleness idea to a degree and went upon my merry way.

I suppose to make up for it, I should say that his coat, pants, and shoes were totally easy and awesome. They gave me no trouble at all.

So, lesse.... What else to say? Well, the only reason I didn't kill myself in the process of this is because I was listening to the happiest video evur, which kept me equally as happy (for most of it). found a French artist named Titou Le Lapinou [Titou the Rabbit] and one of his songs, introducing Titou ("Le Titou") which is like... so insanely cute. You can either look it up on YouTube or if you'd like a link, just ask.

I'm actually not going to continue the fic, as I explained to Lulu because I wrote the scene where Charlie would find his guitar and felt very "....blah" after writing it. As I explained to her (and I still think this sounds dumb), I felt as though I were spoiling the movie for myself. The fic, so heavily inspired by the movie, was beginnig to take away the sur-prize element of the tale. Silly, I know, but I felt as though when I wrote Charlie finding his instrument, I was playing with how August found his. No relation, I know, but that's how it went. The fic just goes into too much detail for my tastes. So... *shrug* Might be more art tho. 8D
